Moving one file shouldn't take five steps

  • To attach a file from your drive to an email, a chat or a form, you download it, dig it out of Downloads, then upload it again.
  • Download a folder and you get a zip to unpack, instead of the folder itself.
  • One client shares in Google Drive, another in Dropbox, your company uses SharePoint. Every one of them makes you download and re-upload.

How it works

Copy in your drive, paste where you need it. Files and whole folders, from any of the four drives.

1

Copy

Select files or folders in Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or SharePoint and press the copy shortcut.

Alt+Shift+C
2

No setup

No sign-in screens and no permissions to grant: FilePaster uses the accounts you're already signed in to in Chrome. Folders come with everything inside them.

3

Paste

In a folder on your computer, paste as usual. On a website, click the upload box and press the paste shortcut. Folders arrive there as a .zip.

Alt+Shift+V

WindowsAlt+Shift+CAlt+Shift+VCtrl+V in File Explorer
UbuntuAlt+Shift+CAlt+Shift+VCtrl+V in Files

You can change the copy and paste shortcuts at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Each drive's own Ctrl+C keeps working for copying inside that drive.

Every drive your clients use, one shortcut

Freelancers, agencies, assistants and students rarely live in just one drive. FilePaster works the same way in all four, with the accounts already signed in to in your browser.

Google Drive

Files and folders of any size. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides arrive as Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

Dropbox

Files and whole folders, with the Dropbox account you already use in Chrome. No Dropbox app needed.

OneDrive

Personal OneDrive files and folders, with the Microsoft account you already use for OneDrive.

SharePoint

Work and school accounts: OneDrive for work and team-site libraries, for any company. No IT setup or Microsoft app to install.

More ways to move files

Drag files to any tab

Drag files or folders out of your drive, hover over another tab (or shake the mouse to jump to your last tab), and drop them on its upload box. They arrive as real files; folders as a .zip.

Attach to emails in one drag

Drop files from your drive onto an email you're writing and they attach right away. Drop a folder and it attaches as a .zip.

Drag images between websites

Drag an image from Google Images, Unsplash or any page straight into Canva, X, a chat or a form. It lands as an image file, not a link.

Set up pasting into folders

Browser extensions can't put real files on your computer's clipboard. FilePaster Helper is a small app that does just that, so ⌘ Cmd+V or Ctrl+V in a folder pastes the files. Pasting into websites doesn't need it.

Mac

Download the installer and open it. Then reload your drive's tab.

Installer coming with the Chrome Web Store release.

Windows

Download the installer and run it. No admin rights needed. Then reload your drive's tab.

Installer coming with the Chrome Web Store release.

Ubuntu

Install the .deb package, plus a clipboard tool:

sudo apt install wl-clipboard

On an X11 desktop, use xclip instead. Package coming with the release.

Without the helper you can still save copied files into a folder from the FilePaster menu in Chrome.

Why FilePaster

Paste into any website

Gmail, Slack, ChatGPT, Canva, a client's upload form. Copy in your drive, click the upload box, paste. No Downloads folder in between.

Your files stay yours

Files travel straight between your browser and your drive. They never pass through FilePaster servers. There aren't any.

Folders keep their shape

Paste a folder into a folder on your computer and you get the same folders and files. Websites get it as one .zip.

Stay in the drives you use

No new dashboard to learn and no account to create. You copy where your files already live, the way you always do.

Pastes where you point

On a website, click the upload box or point at the drop area and paste. In a folder on your computer, paste the way you always do.

No passwords, no new logins

Uses the sign-ins already in your browser, like each drive's own Download button. FilePaster never sees your passwords and only downloads the files you copy or drag.

Questions

Which cloud drives does it work with?

Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive (personal) and SharePoint (work and school accounts, including OneDrive for work and team-site libraries). Copy from any of them with the same shortcut, and paste into any website or a folder on your computer.

Does it work with my company's SharePoint?

If you can open the files in SharePoint or OneDrive for work in Chrome, FilePaster can copy them. It uses the sign-in already in your browser, so there's nothing for your IT team to set up.

Do my files go through your servers?

No. Files go straight from your drive to your computer or the website you paste into. FilePaster doesn't run a server that could receive them.

How is this different from the desktop apps or MultCloud?

Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive's desktop apps sync your files to your computer: great if you want that, but they're large apps, each one only handles its own drive, and none of them paste into websites. MultCloud is a separate website that moves files between cloud accounts on its servers, with full access to your drives. FilePaster is a quick copy and paste inside the sites you already use, and it only touches the files you copy or drag.

Do I need to sign in or give FilePaster access to my accounts?

No. FilePaster uses the accounts you're already signed in to in Chrome, the same way each drive's Download button does. It only downloads the files you copy or drag, and it never changes anything in your drives.

Are there files it can't copy?

Items that aren't files can't be saved as files: Dropbox Paper docs, for example, are skipped, and FilePaster tells you when it skips something. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are copied as Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.

Which browsers does it work in?

FilePaster is a Chrome extension. It works in Google Chrome on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. Other Chromium-based browsers may work but aren't officially supported.

How does the free trial work? Do I need a card?

You get 7 days of full access from the day you install the extension. No card and no sign-up needed.

What happens when the trial ends?

Pasting stops until you subscribe. Subscribe from the extension for $29 a year and you're back to pasting right away.

How do I activate my subscription?

After checkout you'll get an email with a licence key. Open FilePaster's Options page, paste the key and click Activate.

Can I cancel?

Yes, anytime, from your Lemon Squeezy order page (linked in your receipt email). You keep access until the end of the year you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you're not happy, you get a full refund within 14 days of your first payment, no questions asked. Email support with your order number. Renewals aren't refunded, but you can cancel anytime. See the refund policy.

Can I paste large files?

Into a folder on your computer, yes: FilePaster downloads the copy right away and shows progress (with a Cancel link). Into a website, up to 1 GB per paste, because the website holds the files in your browser's memory.

How do I contact you?

Email support@filepaster.com. For billing questions, include your order number.
