Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026
In short: FilePaster only downloads the files you copy or drag from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or SharePoint. It downloads them straight from that service to your own computer, then pastes them where you ask. We have no server that receives your files, we don't use analytics or ads, and we don't sell data. The only outside service we use is Lemon Squeezy, for subscriptions.
This policy explains what the FilePaster Chrome extension, the optional FilePaster Helper app and this website do with your information. FilePaster ("we", "us") is made by an independent software developer based in the Philippines. Questions: support@filepaster.com.
Access to your cloud drives
FilePaster doesn't ask you to sign in or grant it access to any account, and it doesn't use any official Google, Dropbox or Microsoft API or app key. It works with the accounts you're already signed in to in Chrome, the same way each service's own website and Download button do. FilePaster never sees your passwords.
FilePaster reads and downloads only the items you copy or drag, at the moment you copy, paste or drop them. It never changes, moves or deletes anything in your drives, and it doesn't browse, index or upload anything else.
- Google Drive: it reads the selected items' names and types from the Drive page you're on. For a folder, it reads the folder's list of contents from Drive's folder page (names, types and sizes), including subfolders. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drawings are downloaded as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PNG files.
- Dropbox: it reads the selected items' paths from the Dropbox page you're on, plus your Dropbox user ID and the page's security token (which Dropbox's own website sends with its requests). With these and your existing Dropbox sign-in, it asks Dropbox for the selected items' details, the contents of selected folders (names, types and sizes, including subfolders), and a short-lived download link for each file. Dropbox Paper docs and other items that aren't files are skipped.
- OneDrive and SharePoint (personal, work and school accounts): it reads the selected items and the site and library they're in from the page you're on. With your existing Microsoft sign-in, it asks OneDrive or SharePoint for the contents of selected folders (names, types and sizes, including subfolders) and downloads the selected files, the way their own Download button does.
What happens to your files
File contents go directly from your drive (Google, Dropbox or Microsoft) to your computer. They are never sent to us. What happens next depends on where you paste:
- Into a website (for example an email or a form's upload box): the files are downloaded into your browser and handed to that website when you press the paste shortcut. Folders are packed into a .zip in your browser first. From then on, that website handles the files under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Into a folder with FilePaster Helper (⌘V or Ctrl+V in your file manager): FilePaster downloads the files and the helper stores them in a private cache folder on your computer (in your user's cache directory, under "FilePaster") and puts them on your system clipboard, so pasting copies them where you choose. The helper deletes older copies by itself. It keeps your latest copy, because you may still paste it, and anything from the last 10 minutes.
- Into a folder from the FilePaster menu: the files are saved directly into the folder you chose on your computer.
- Dragged to another tab: the same as pasting into a website. The files go to the page you drop them on.
Dragging images between websites
When you drag an image from one website and drop it on another, FilePaster downloads that one image from the website it came from (as your browser would, including that site's cookies, so images you can see can be downloaded) and hands it to the page you dropped it on. It doesn't read or collect anything else from websites, and nothing is sent to us. You can turn this off in FilePaster's Options at any time.
What is stored on your device
- The current copy: the names, types, sizes and IDs or paths of the items you copied, so you can paste them. For a Dropbox copy, this also includes your Dropbox user ID and the page's security token, so the files can be downloaded when you paste. This is cleared when you close the browser.
- Folders you set up for saving from the FilePaster menu, and the permission you gave for them.
- Your trial start date, and if you subscribe, your licence key and subscription status.
- Temporary file copies in the helper's cache folder, as described above.
None of this is sent to us.
Information shared with other services
- Google, Dropbox and Microsoft: FilePaster downloads the items you copy from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or SharePoint through your browser, like each service's own Download button. Each service's privacy policy applies to your account there.
- Websites you paste or drop into: only the files you paste or drop, at the moment you do it.
- Websites you drag images from: a normal request for the image you dropped.
- Lemon Squeezy: Lemon Squeezy sells FilePaster subscriptions on our behalf as the merchant of record. When you subscribe, you give your payment details and email to Lemon Squeezy, not to us. Lemon Squeezy shares your name, email and order details with us so we can provide support. To activate and periodically check your subscription, the extension sends your licence key and a short device label (such as "FilePaster on macOS") to Lemon Squeezy. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.
Your cloud drive data
- We use your Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and SharePoint data only to copy and paste the files you choose, which is FilePaster's only purpose.
- We don't transfer it to anyone, except to the place you paste it, as you ask.
- We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to train AI or machine-learning models.
- Your files never reach us, so no person at FilePaster can read them, unless you send us a file yourself (for example for support).
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking or advertising, in the extension, the helper or on this website.
- No selling or renting of personal information.
- No reading of your files or your browsing. On websites, FilePaster does nothing until you press its paste shortcut.
This website
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. It is hosted by Vercel, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability.
Keeping and deleting your data
Data stored by the extension stays on your device until you remove it. Uninstalling FilePaster deletes it. Uninstalling FilePaster Helper removes the helper; you can also delete its cache folder ("FilePaster" in your user's cache directory) at any time. To free a licence slot, open FilePaster's Options page and click "Remove licence from this browser". To ask about the order details we hold, or to have them deleted (except what we must keep for tax or legal reasons), email us.
Security
You sign in to Google, Dropbox and Microsoft on their own websites, and FilePaster never sees your passwords. Your sign-ins stay in Chrome; websites you paste into never receive them, and the Dropbox security token is only ever sent back to Dropbox. The helper's cache folder is readable only by your user account on your computer.
Children
FilePaster is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If we ever want to use your data in a new way, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.
