How to paste files from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive into ChatGPT

AI chats like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini read the files you attach. If those files live in a cloud drive, here's how to get them into the chat quickly.

The usual way

Download the file from your drive, then drag it from Downloads into the chat or use its attach button. Some AI apps can also connect to Google Drive or OneDrive directly, but that means granting the app access to your drive, and it depends on the app and your plan.

The faster way: copy in your drive, paste in the chat

With the FilePaster Chrome extension:

  1. In Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or SharePoint, select the files and press Alt+Shift+C (⌥ Option+Shift+C on a Mac).
  2. In the chat, click the message box and press Alt+Shift+V (⌥ Option+Shift+V on a Mac).

The files attach as if you'd picked them from your computer. You don't connect your drive to the AI app: FilePaster only downloads the files you copy, with the sign-in already in your browser. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides arrive as Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, which these chats can read.

FilePaster copies files and folders from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and SharePoint and pastes them into any website or a folder on your computer. 7-day free trial, then $29 a year. See how it works.
